Envirolink Centre

Established in 2000, the Envirolink Centre is an environmental resource and information hub for the Capricorn Coast Community. It is our largest and most diverse project.

The general aims of the Envirolink Centre project are to educate the community on catchment and land management practices through provision of resources and advice, and to link community groups and their environmental activities.

community resource library

Books, fact sheets, journals and displays about climate change; soil conservation;  water quality; other NRM issues; native and bush tucker plants; weed management; exotic fruits; permaculture; marine, terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems; wildlife; the sciences; urban sustainability topics; historical info; you name it - we've got it!

Understanding the importance of recycling and waste reduction to reduce our impact on the environment, Envirolink has it's very own recycling station, built locally by volunteers. You can drop off items such as old batteries, used/empty oral care products, ink cartridges, old pens/textas. We are always keen for a chat about anything recycling!  Cash for containers can also be deposited here to help us raise funds. There is also a seed bank deposit tray in the recycling station so please bring in your bagged and labelled spare seeds to share!

Keep an eye on our Facebook page for all the latest updates and progress on our project sites; volunteering opportunities; Junior Landcare activities; information about national and global issues and campaigns; weeds and regeneration tips; and other useful bits and pieces.

For upcoming events to participate in keep an eye on the Events Tab too. Your ideas and feedback are always welcome so message us or drop into the Envirolink.

We offer free identification and advice on local weeds and plants and their control in our area. We're not too bad with problem insects/pests either. Bring a recent sample in to us (if it's a weed, please ensure you bag it), with a flower if possible. Or email photos and details to envirolink@cqnet.com.au.  If you would like to purchase the invaluable resource book, 'Plants of Capricornia', we can tell you how.

use of tools and equipment

Free loan of equipment to community and environmental groups: reusable catering kit (50 settings) to reduce your event's throw-away plastic; 3m x 3m gazebo; light-weight shade structure; display boards; GPS unit; portable BBQ; office space for meetings (seats 8 comfortably); reveg/garden tools.

free advice on local land management issues

If you have concerns about land management issues such as erosion, salinity, a neighbour clearing trees, wildlife, or pesky pests in your backyard or on a rural block, let us know and we'll see if we can help. Sometimes we will seek further input or clarification from Council to help you out. Drop in to the Envirolink Centre, send us an email, or phone us.
